Bruno Fernandes Opposes Ronaldo's

Bruno Fernandes disagrees with Cristiano Ronaldo's opinion that Roberto Martinez's arrival has given the Portugal national team a "breath of fresh air."

After Portugal lost in the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup, Fernando Santos was fired as manager and replaced by Roberto Martinez.

In qualifying games for Euro 2024, Portugal's first two games under Martinez were wins. They beat Liechtenstein 4-0 and Luxembourg 6-0.

Ronaldo, who is 38 years old, has started both of those games and scored four goals. He did not play in Portugal's last two games at Qatar 2022, when Santos put him on the bench.

Ronaldo said that the change in manager was a "breath of fresh air" for Portugal after his first training session with Martinez last week.

But when asked about Ronaldo's comments after Portugal beat Luxembourg, Fernandes didn't agree with them.

Fernandes told RTP3, a Portuguese TV station, "No, it's just a new coach with new ideas." There isn't a single breath of fresh air.

"It's just a time of change. There has always been a good mood on the national team. There has never been anything that wasn't fresh about the air, so I think it's just a new dynamic, a new coach, and you have to get used to his ideas.

In June, Portugal will keep trying to get ready for Euro 2024.

They are also in the same group as Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Iceland.
